About You Need Coffee
Our family roasting house in Jerusalem since 2011, roasting fresh coffee every day.
Our Beginnings
You Need Coffee is a family-owned roasting house. The foundation was made by Hod and Mitsuko Ben Zvi in Jerusalem in August 2011. In the coming years the entire family involved bringing different talents into the mix. Koriel was first to develop the roasting segment. Yaviel brought coffee roasting into to new heights and his wife Vicky developed the art & design segment as well as the official site and social media. Both currently manage the shop and develop the brand.
At first, Hod wanted to bring the American filter coffee experience to Jerusalem. It didn't take long to realise that Israelis preferred their espresso, so the business naturally evolved into serving espresso-based drinks and freshly roasted beans. Some of our long-time customers may even remember when every visit came with a complimentary espresso.

Our journey began in a small shop on Jaffa 30, where we welcomed coffee lovers from 2011 until 2023.
In 2017, we opened our second location on
Jaffa 78, our home to this day.
From Ein Hod to Jerusalem
A major milestone came in 2016 when we invested in our first roasting machine and began roasting our own coffee in our grandparents' home in the beautiful artists' village of Ein Hod.
A year later, the roaster moved to Jerusalem, where it became the heart of our shop.
Today, customers can watch coffee being roasted while they browse our selection of beans.
Our Coffee
Freshness has always been at the centre of everything we do. Every coffee is roasted in small batches, in our 2kg roaster, and we proudly display the roasting date on every bag. Whether you visit us in person or order online, we want you to enjoy coffee at its freshest, bringing out the unique character and natural flavours of each origin.
For us, coffee is more than just a drink, it's a way to bring people together. Some of our favourite moments happen over a cup of coffee, where stories are shared, friendships grow, and conversations begin. Our goal has always been to create those moments while helping people discover just how diverse and exciting coffee can be.

We're especially passionate about specialty coffee and are always searching for exciting new origins and varieties to share. Our selection changes regularly, giving you the opportunity to discover unique flavours with every season.

Coffee & Art
Our passion for coffee is deeply connected to our family's artistic heritage. The artworks featured on our coffee bags were created by our grandparents, Gedaliah and Rachel Ben Zvi, renowned artists and among the founders of the Ein Hod Artists' Village.
Together, as a couple, they worked across tapestry, painting, and sculpture, creating art inspired by nature, family, and the beauty of creation.
Their creativity continues to inspire everything we do, reminding us that roasting coffee is also a craft that blends precision, patience, and creativity.

In 2024, we introduced the monkey logo you know today.
It was designed by our head roaster, Yaviel, and inspired by the legendary Monkey King, Sun Wukong, from Chinese mythology, a symbol of curiosity, adventure, and the joy of discovering something new.
